Webelos crossing over to 444G soon - Volunteers needed!

Posted on Jan 26 2023 - 10:31pm

We have a new group of Webelos that will be crossing over into 444G after receiving their Arrow of Light award.  Pack 262 is holding their ceremony on Sat., Feb. 25 at 5:00 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church.  We need 2-3 scouts and 2 adults to be present to assist with the ceremony if needed, and to welcome these girls to our troop.

This is a great way to earn service hours and to help these new scouts feel connected to us right away. Please contact Katrina Gray if you can be present on the 25th!  membership@t444.org

CPR/AED Class on March 8

Posted on Jan 26 2023 - 10:49am

The 501(c)(3) nonprofit Living for Zachary is dedicated to raising awareness and preventing sudden cardiac arrest in youth. They have notified Troop 444B/G that we will be awarded an automatic defibrillator that we can keep on hand for meetings and events. However, as part of living into our motto to Be Prepared, this means that as a troop we need to have trained individuals who know how to use an AED and provide basic lifesaving support in the event of an emergency.

Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Class - Star rank or above

Posted on Jan 21 2023 - 12:25pm

Citizenship in Society Merit Badge class for Troop 444. This MB recommends small group conversations of scouts no more that 2 years apart in age, so this session is only for Scouts who are Star rank or above. (Don't worry, we will have more opportunities for younger scouts!) We will do the class in two sessions of 2 hours each on Jan 29 and February 12, 6-8 pm at Arapaho United Methodist Church. Come to the first session having completed Requirement 1.

Day Hike - Jan 14

Posted on Jan 7 2023 - 10:05pm

Thanks to everyone who responded about a potential opportunity for camping at Caprock Canyon with younger scouts.  We did not hit the minimum number of scouts/adults needed to make that feasible.  However, for those scouts unable to attend the Caprock Canyon campout, the Troop will offer a local hike option on Saturday morning (1/14) from 9am until approximately 12pm.  This five-mile hike will support both Second Class advancement and Hiking merit badge requirements. Scouts will meet at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve (5901 Los Rios Boulevard, Plano, TX 75074) to complete the hike.  There is a pavilion near the public restrooms that will serve as our starting point. Monday's TFC and Troop meeting will help prepare for both the Caprock Canyon campout and hiking at Oak Point.

To support the hike, we would welcome a few more adult leaders to support the hike. Troop 444G members are welcome to join in as long as there are at least 2 adult leaders from the girls' troop available. Sign up here to join the hike: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508044EAAAD2F4-444day
